Tech writing

I included this section because it highlights both my editing and my research. I'm a writer who likes to know everything (or at least as much as possible) before I start working. I like to explore every possible avenue before I form an opinion and always try to find interesting perspectives as I work.

Whenever I have a new writing task, I always start by thinking about what I already know about that topic off-the-cuff and writing that down. The next step is to identify the gaps in what I know and then to read everything relevant that I can get my hands on. Sometimes this means searching JSTOR for academic articles, sometimes it means hunting down an entire book published decades ago in online archives. Once I've read through some reference materials, I usually get an idea for structure. It seems to me that there's a natural order to everything. I write multiple drafts of every paper or presentation before I'm happy. I like to pretend that bad drafts don't happen to me and that I am the type of person who always articulates myself perfectly the first time, but that’s why including my editing work is important, if not for my self esteem than at least to show my persistence.

In this section, you’ll find my writings on game design, internet culture, art, and even a bit of theory and philosophy.

Presentation

I made this presentation for Language Theory. Its far from the prettiest slideshow I ever made, but it does contain the most amount of work! I'm including this project because of the amount of time I spent researching for it, and because I accidentally stumbled upon a ton of discourse around the subject matter.

Editing

This is an editing project I did for Writing for Business and Government. The original file was around 80 pages long, but my class received a 10 page section to try and improve. I included this because the project was specifically designed to sharpen our editing skills and I think it showcases my ability to preserve content while making documents easier to understand.
